French, antique, and every bit as ornate as you’d hope — she’s dressed in intricate boulle inlay with rich ormolu mounts and that signature curvy silhouette.
And yes, that’s the original liner inside — perfectly aged and ready for fresh florals or simply to shine on her own.
Boulle is a term that refers to a type of marquetry of patterned inlays of brass and/or tortoiseshell, occasionally with other metals such as pewter, much used on French furniture from the 17th century. It’s named after the 17th-century French cabinetmaker, André Charles Boulle.
In this case, you’ll find intricate brass inlay over wood.
This piece wasn’t made to blend in. She was made to turn heads in an entryway, sunroom, or tucked into a fancy corner that needed a little drama.
She’s old. She’s fabulous. She’s got some aging. Don’t we all?😉
